How to play Terrazzo
Terrazzo is one quiet puzzle a day. You fit coloured stones into a frame. When every Law holds, the colours settle into a real picture, and a few lines tell you what you made.
- One mosaic a day, the same for everyone in the world, so it is worth talking about.
- No clock, no ads, no account. Stop and come back whenever you like.
- Three Laws decide where the stones can go.
What are the Laws?
- Kinship. Stones of the same colour that touch form a region. The frame's edge lists the sizes those regions must have.
- Solitude. No two sun cells may touch, not even corner to corner.
- The Vein. The vein cells must form one unbroken path between the frame's two notches, with no branches and no loops.
Most days use one or two Laws. The Law cards at the start of each day show which.
How do I start a mosaic?
1. Read the day's Law cards. 2. Find the largest region the Kinship Law names. It has the fewest places to fit, so place it first. 3. Fill the corners and narrow parts of the frame next. 4. If a stone will not fit anywhere, lift the last few and try the other orientation.
Where can I get a hint?
Every day has three hints: a nudge at 00:00 UTC, the Laws in plain words at 08:00, and the answer at 16:00. Today's hints are always one tap away.
What does it cost?
Terrazzo is free to play every day. The archive of past mosaics, Stillwater and Solve DNA are part of TERRAZZO+, and they are free for everyone for now.
