How do I solve the Solitude Law in Terrazzo?
Solitude says that no two ☉ stones may touch, not even diagonally. Give each ☉ stone a ring of empty space, and the Law holds.
- Count the corners. Stones that meet only at a corner still break the Law.
- Think in rings. Each ☉ stone claims the eight cells around it.
- Spread out early. Place ☉ stones far apart first, then fit the rest around them.
What does Solitude ask for exactly?
Every ☉ stone must stand alone. No other ☉ stone may sit beside it, above it or below it. None may sit at its corners either.
That makes eight neighbouring cells, and all eight must be free of ☉. Stones of other colours and glyphs may sit there without trouble. The Law cares only about ☉ meeting ☉.
Where should I start?
Start with the cells where a ☉ stone has to go. Some stones are fixed by the frame, and some are forced by another Law. Mark those first.
Each fixed ☉ stone rules out its eight neighbours at once. Cross them off in your head. What remains shows where the other ☉ stones can live.
How do I spot a crowded spot?
Look for two ☉ stones that sit one cell apart, in a line or on a slant. That gap is safe. Two stones with no gap between them, even at a corner, are not.
The corner touch is the usual slip. Our eyes read a side-by-side pair easily. A diagonal pair hides in plain sight. Scan each ☉ stone and check its four corners on purpose.
Does a ☉ stone count if it is a different colour?
The Law looks at the ☉ glyph, not at the colour. Two ☉ stones of different colours still may not touch. Choose the colour for each ☉ stone by the other Laws, then check the glyphs on their own.
This is a good habit with any Law. Read what it counts, and ignore the rest. Calm puzzle solving is often just careful reading, as in how to approach logic puzzles.
How does Solitude work with the other Laws?
Solitude pushes stones apart, and the other Laws pull them together. Kinship wants same-coloured stones to form regions of set sizes. The Vein wants one unbroken path.
Plan those first, since they shape the frame most. Then see where the ☉ stones fit in the space left. If you want the method for large regions, read Kinship strategy for big regions.
What if I am stuck?
Lift only the ☉ stones that crowd each other, and keep the rest of the mosaic. Place them again one at a time, with a ring of space each. Often a single stone moved by one cell frees the whole corner.
Every day has three hints. A nudge arrives at 00:00 UTC, the Laws in plain words at 08:00 UTC, and the answer at 16:00 UTC. Try the nudge before anything else.
