What are good games like Wordle?

The best games like Wordle share three habits: one puzzle a day, rules you learn in a minute, and a natural place to stop. Terrazzo has all three, and it uses coloured stones instead of letters.

What makes a game feel like Wordle?

Most people mean a ritual more than a mechanic. You open the game once, think for a little while, and feel a small satisfaction. Then you close it and get on with your day.

That rhythm is what many daily puzzles offer, whether they use words, numbers or shapes. If you liked the rhythm, you can enjoy it in another form. There is more about this in daily puzzle games on iPhone.

Can a daily puzzle be about something other than words?

Yes. Logic puzzles ask you to hold a few rules in mind and test ideas against them. You need no vocabulary, so a bad word day does not matter.

Terrazzo is one such puzzle. You fit coloured stones into a frame so the day's Laws hold. There is no spelling and no trivia.

How does Terrazzo work?

Each day has one or two Laws, chosen from three. They decide where the stones may go.

Start with the largest Kinship region, since it has the fewest places to fit. The full walkthrough is in how to play Terrazzo.

Is it free, and does it have a timer?

The daily puzzle is free to play, and there are no ads and no account. There is no clock either, so you can stop and return later.

The archive of past mosaics, Stillwater and Solve DNA are part of TERRAZZO+. They are free for everyone for now. Past days open with keys earned by solving the daily puzzle.

What if I get stuck?

Being stuck is normal, and nobody sees it. Step away for an hour, then look again with fresh eyes.

Every day has three hints. A nudge arrives at 00:00 UTC, the Laws in plain words at 08:00 UTC, and the answer at 16:00 UTC. The leaderboard counts unaided solves only, so hints never cost you anything else.

Is Terrazzo the same as Wordle?

No, and it does not try to be. It is a different puzzle that offers a similar calm habit. It runs on iPhone and iPad only.

If you like word puzzles, keep playing them. A second small puzzle in a different style can make the day feel a little fuller.
