A mystery needs three things. There is something you do not know, a set of clues, and a moment when it all fits. Many puzzle games have the second and third. Few keep the first.
In Terrazzo, the unknown is the subject of the day's mosaic. Each stone you place is a small step toward it. When the last stone lands, the picture is clear, and a short story tells you about it.
What are the clues in Terrazzo?
The clues are the day's Laws. There are three kinds, and a day may use one or several.
- Kinship: same-coloured regions must match the sizes shown on the frame's edge.
- Solitude: no two sun cells may touch, not even diagonally.
- The Vein: the vein cells must form one unbroken path between the frame's two notches.

Is it a detective game?
No, and it is better to say so plainly. There are no suspects, no dialogue and no story you must follow. The puzzle is a tile puzzle in a frame.
What it shares with a mystery is the feeling of narrowing down. You rule out a place for a stone, then another. Soon only one place is left. If that appeals to you, you will likely enjoy logic puzzle apps for iPhone in general.
Is it calm enough to play at night?

You can stop at the first one and keep the solve your own. The leaderboard counts unaided solves only, so using a hint is your choice and costs nothing else.
