Is there a puzzle game with no ads on iOS?

Yes. Terrazzo is a daily mosaic puzzle for iPhone and iPad with no ads, no timers and no account. You can also spot other ad-free puzzle games with a few quick checks on the App Store page.

How can I tell if a puzzle game has ads before I download?

Start with the App Store page. Scroll to the in-app purchases list and the App Privacy section.

An ad-free game often lists fewer data types. A listing that mentions tracking is worth a second look. None of this is proof, so treat it as a hint.

Then sort the reviews by most recent. Search them for the word "ads" and see what people say. A few complaints from long ago matter less than a pattern this month.

Why do some puzzle games show so many ads?

Many free games earn money by showing adverts between levels. That works best when there is an endless supply of levels. The game then has a reason to keep you tapping.

A daily puzzle works differently. You finish one puzzle, you are done, and you come back tomorrow. There is no gap between levels to fill. Our guide to choosing a puzzle game app looks at this in more detail.

What does no ads mean for Terrazzo?

Nothing cuts in while you play. You open the app, you see the day's puzzle, and you fit coloured stones into the frame. The same puzzle goes to everyone that day.

The daily puzzle is free to play. TERRAZZO+ adds the archive of past mosaics, Stillwater and Solve DNA, and it is free for everyone for now. Past days in the archive open with keys you earn by solving the daily puzzle.

When every Law holds, the colours settle into a picture of something real, with a short story. That is the whole reward. It is quiet on purpose.

What kind of puzzle is it?

You fit stones into a frame so the day's Laws hold. There are three Laws, and most days use one or two.

If you want a walk through a first puzzle, read how to play Terrazzo.

What if I get stuck without any pop-ups offering help?

Help is there, but it never interrupts you. Every day has three hints, released on a fixed schedule. A nudge arrives at 00:00 UTC. The Laws in plain words follow at 08:00 UTC, and the answer comes at 16:00 UTC.

You choose whether to read them. The leaderboard counts unaided solves only. That means no hints, no salvages and no seat marks. If you would rather not compete, ignore it.

Is a game with no ads better for relaxing?

For many people it is. Interruptions break the mood, and a puzzle is easier to enjoy when nothing asks for your attention. A game with a clear ending also lets you put the phone down.

That is why people often play one before bed. Dim the screen, solve one puzzle, and stop. Try it for a week and see how you feel.
